A Milestone

Big Boy Bed!!! For the past couple of weeks, Nicholas has been giving us signs that's he done with his crib. So Mike and I worked hard this morning to set up his new bed. Nicholas loves it!!!

Nighty night. It's only been one day, but our boy has made the transition like a champ. He took a great nap and we didn't hear a peep out of him at bed time. I'm sure that'll change, but it looks like our son is growing up...sniffle : ) We're so proud of you sweetheart!!

The precious moments

Here are my boys getting ready for Nicholas' bed time. We'd had a long, fun day, but the best part is always having Daddy read and sing at the end of the day. You two are the best and thanks Dada for all the good books and songs. We love to hear you sing!!

Zoo time!!!

I woke up one day and said "Nicholas, we've never been to the SF zoo...let's go today." Well, an hour later (that Bay Bridge toll plaza is a killer wait) we made it. Perfect timing to see this grizzly bear up close.
Nicholas says "now that's a bear I like...one I can ride : )"
A nice worker let us sneak past the yellow tape and get a first hand peek at the new hippo exhibit they're building.
Nicholas loved chasing the seagulls around this fountain. I think he thought they'd think the stick was food...of course, it just looks like a torture device to them, Nicks.

Suprise!!

One of my dearest friends, Mary, had a surprise b-day party a few weeks ago. I'm terrible about keeping secrets, but I managed to keep the cat in the bag.

Nicholas loved playing with all the cool kids and toys.

The b-day girl about to cut the cake. The kids couldn't wait for a piece.

Aah, finally...the cake. Nicholas loved the "strbry" filling! Happy Birthday Mary...we love you!!

Our little dinosaur

While we were in Utah this month, Mike took Nicholas to the dinosaur discovery museum. They had a great boys' morning out, and here's Nicholas getting dirty in the sand and water exhibit.

I asked Mike how he got Nicholas to pose so well for this shot, and Mike said he just did it. That's amazing since most of his pictures involve his thumb in his mouth and his blankie. Guess all it took was posing in front of T-Rex to warm him up for the camera.

Look out Indiana Jones, here's our future archaeologist. "Look Dada, I found a bone."

Trip to Utah

Here's cousin Jayden and Nicholas having tons of fun with bubble wrap. If only I'd known how easy it was, I wouldn't have needed to buy all those toys that he doesn't touch : )

Mike and I went to the Salt Lake City temple and had someone take this shot. It's significant to us because Mike's parents stood in front of this very same door 26 years ago with a 6-year-old Mike and his younger sisters. They were sealed as a family for time and all eternity that day.

Mike's sister, Alison, graduated from BYU - YEAH!!! We're so proud of her!!

Roasting marshmallows around a portable grill under the carport. We had a fire going, but it started to rain. Nicholas was sad to see the "firepit" go up in smoke, but he quickly got over it when he got a s'more.

Cheerio Stylin'

We came across some doggie sunglasses that my mom got Cheerio a few years ago. He looks pretty cool (although he's probably thinking "great, another torture device"). Nicholas got a kick out of Cheerio's new look.
