Fantastic Weekend

We drove down to L.A. this past weekend so I could run a half-marathon on Saturday morning.  It was my first trail run, and I had a great time.  I loved running towards the finish line and seeing Mike and Nicholas cheering me on.

IMG_2437 IMG_2438 The post-race activities were fantastic…see that little boy climbing the big slide.  That’s Nicholas, and that’s as far as he made it before he decided it was too tall for him.  He preferred the bouncy house next to it.

IMG_2444 We went swimming at the hotel that evening.  I love my boys, they make me so happy!!!!

We had a great time, and we got to visit with our friends the Methenys (we forgot the camera) and their three cute kids.  All in all, it was a fun and memorable weekend!!!

Redwood Regional Forest

Yesterday we took advantage of the gorgeous weather and took the boys to the redwood forest just 20 minutes away.  We had a great time enjoying the beauty around us and the boys loved running around the trails.

Happy Birthday & Happy St. Paddy’s Day

We started our Saint Patrick’s celebrations early and went to the Dublin parade on Saturday.  Here’s our neighbor, Ken, making the rounds as Oscar the Otter (he works at the city water department).  He did a great job, and  his secret was safe until I posted this blog : )  Sorry Ken!  And no that’s not Mary, his wife, holding his hand.  He had to have a “handler” because he couldn’t see out of that head very well.

Today our St. Paddy’s boy, Cheerio, turned 5.  So for his birthday walk, I took the boys up to the Lafayette reservoir and we walked the 3 mile trail.  It was a gorgeous day and Nicholas was rewarded with the big playground located at the end of the trail.  Poor Cheerio though was wiped out afterwards : )  Happy Birthday Cheerio!!!

Mary gave me a great recipe for Irish soda bread so I made that along with some hearty soup and some shamrock cookies.  Nicholas insisted on pink frosting for his (don’t know where he gets his love of pink).

We bought Nicholas his own basketball hoop this past weekend and we have loved playing a little b-ball every night after dinner.  And yes that’s Mike with his mouth full of Irish bread…he likes to play and eat at the same time.

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK’S DAY…I’m off to pinch Mike : )

Trip to Monterey

To celebrate Mike filing the annual report last week, we took a weekend trip to Monterey, one of favorite get-away spots. What fun we had!!! Despite the rain we had a blast. We went to the aquarium, an awesome children’s museum, the beach, and Nicholas’ favorite, Dennis the Menace park.

IMG_2392Nicholas loved the train at the parkIMG_2393Whee, this slide is so cool! IMG_2397While Dada was taking a snooze in the car, Mama and Nicholas built a sand castle on the beach. Nicholas was the master bridge builder while I was in charge of the tunnel.

What a great weekend-candy apples, BBQ (yes Mike talked me into that somehow), fruit stand shopping, driving the gorgeous coastline, chillin’ in the hotel, and best of all, having Dada all to ourselves. We’re so glad you’re done sweetheart, WELCOME BACK!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Great Entertainment

Nicholas sees Dada and Mama playing the piano and wants to get in on the action too.  So he put the earphones on one day and made his own music.  I’ve started teaching him a little piano, but he mostly just wants to bang around for now : )

We’re Riding Gordon

IMG_2385

Last weekend we took Nicholas to see a Warriors basketball game. I think the best part of the night was riding the BART to the stadium. He is obsessed with Thomas the train stuff and Gordon is one of the trains. So the whole time we were on the BART, he kept saying, we’re riding Gordon.

He did love the game too, mostly the ice cream, hot dog, and drinks he got : )

One Happy Family

My mom and grandma were out here for a couple of weeks in January and we had a great time!! Here's four generations from my grandma down to Nicholas. And Cheerio looks pretty happy to be in the picture too! Nicholas had a blast with Gramie and "Mother". Thanks for making the long drive from OK to take care of us and brighten our lives : ) We love you!!!
