Step 1 - sorry no picture. Used to be a couple doors raised up about 18 in from the floor. No finishing.Step 2 - cut down to the floor and setting up the basic framing
Step 3 - the finished product. 
Step 4 - Carrie's favorite part - filling it up with food! No more cluttered counters or things jumping out of the cupboards at you.

I wish! The extent of my handyman skills is pouring drano down the drain or tightening screws.
